From Martin Luther King to Greta Thunberg's recent speech at Davos, a rousing political speech can change the world.

This panel will examine what makes a great political speech and assess whether orators are born or made.

Chaired by Michael Blackley, Scottish Parliament Journalist Association Secretary, this panel includes: 

  • David Clegg, Assistant Editor and Political Editor at The Daily Record 
  • Kezia Dugdale, Director of the John Smith Centre for Public Service 
  • Dr Julia Peetz, PhD in Performance and Politics at the University of Warwick 
  • Dr Andrew Crines, Senior Lecturer in British Politics at the University of Liverpool 

This event will run in partnership with the Scottish Parliament Journalists Association (SPJA)
