Scotland 2030: What do we want, and how can we get there?

Time: 7pm to 8:30pm

What kind of country will Scotland be by 2030 and how will we tackle the challenges ahead?

Free

Scotland faces unprecedented change over the coming decade. Climate change, technological innovation and an ageing population present us all with challenges and opportunities. Scotland has set itself demanding targets to tackle poverty and end greenhouse gas emissions, and it hopes to be a world leader in ethical AI.

As this year’s Festival tackles the big issues facing our society in the next decade, join the Presiding Officer, Rt Hon Ken Macintosh MSP, and panellists to discuss what the Scottish response will be to these global changes. How can we prepare ourselves? And, in navigating the decisions ahead, what kind of country do we want?

  • Professor Dame Anne Glover, President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and chair of its Post-COVID Futures Commission
  • Roman Krznaric, philosopher and author The Good Ancestor: How to think long-term in a short-term world
  • Bruce Adamson, Commissioner for Children and Young People, Scotland
  • Tomiwa Folorunso, a writer and presenter

The event is run in partnership with Scotland's Futures Forum.
