Event description
Join Clare Adamson MSP, Convener, Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee in conversation with Gustavo Dudamel, one of the world’s foremost music conductors.
Currently Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Dudamel conducted the Edinburgh International Festival’s Opening Event at Tynecastle in 2019. Following his appointment as the 27th Music and Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic from 2026, Dudamel returns to Edinburgh this summer with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.
An enthusiastic believer that the arts have the power to change lives, he himself is an alumnus of El Sistema, and a vocal advocate for music education as a vehicle for social change and an instrument of global transformation.
He will discuss this as well as addressing the key question posed by the International Festival this year: Where Do We Go From Here?
