The UK left the European Union on January 31 this year. Yet, the trading relationship between the two parties will not change until January 1, 2021, when the transition period expires. So, will the UK fall off a cliff-edge on a no deal or will the negotiators achieve a deal that placates all sides on tariffs, quotas and barriers? And how will the UK and the EU’s relationship develop in a world dealing with a pandemic where unity and cooperation is deemed vital?
Chaired by Joan McAlpine MSP, Convener of the Culture, Tourism, Europe and External Affairs Committee, this panel includes:
- Professor Anand Menon, Director of the UK in a Changing Europe
- Professor Nicola McEwen, Co-Director, Centre on Constitutional Change, University of Edinburgh
- Martin Howe QC, Chairman, Lawyers for Britain
The event is run in partnership with Centre on Constitutional Change, University of Edinburgh.
